Introduction:
This small picturesque city is situated on the banks of the Vltava River (Moldau in German) in Southern Bohemia and is about a 2 hour drive from Prague. The town was built around a 13th century castle with gothic, renaissance and baroque elements. It is an outstanding example of a small central European medieval town whose architectural heritage has remained intact thanks to its peaceful evolution over more than five centuries. After we leave Prague, we drive south to the town of Ceske Budejovice (Budweis in German), where we make a coffee stop and then continue to Cesky Krumlov. Our walking tour of the town includes a tour of the Castle that used to belong to the rich and influential Rosenberg family where we visit the still beautifully furnished interior rooms.
You may even see the ghost of the "White Lady" that supposedly still haunts these walls! After an extensive visit we continue through town to the main square for lunch (not included but suggestions will be made). After lunch we have ample time to stroll around and shop for handmade items, crystal, antiques or the many art objects offered. In the early afternoon we drive back to Prague. Cesky Krumlov is one of UNESCO World Heritage sights.
